Azad is the main setting for the events that occur in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. When Prince's father gives the Hourglass of Time to the Azad sultan, the Prince releases the sands upon Azad accidentally, turning most of the citizens of Azad into sand creatures. In the end of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time the Prince reverses time, completely nullifying any occurrences post-release of the sands.
